About Chris Thomson
Chris Thomson is a Principal Biologist and Environmental Consultant with nine years of experience supporting projects across California, with primary expertise in southern California, and additional experience in northern California and southern Oregon.
Chris has served as both a project manager and field biologist on a wide range of projects, including utility-scale solar, infrastructure improvements, restoration, and residential development. His experience spans the full project lifecycle—from early-stage biological due diligence and constraints analysis through construction monitoring and compliance.
Technical Expertise
Chris specializes in biological due diligence, constraints analyses, and sensitive species surveys, with a strong emphasis on providing defensible technical work and practical, field-based solutions.
He holds a USFWS Section 10(a)(1)(A) permit for coastal California gnatcatcher, Quino checkerspot butterfly, and listed large branchiopods, and has extensive experience conducting protocol-level and focused surveys for a range of sensitive species, including:
